MADE IN BED proudly introduces our newest Features Co-Editor, Hamish Strudwick!

Hamish was born in Scotland and travelled South, trading rural Aberdeen for rural Devon. Growing up he was a keen rugby player, horse rider, and rower. From a young age he has been an avid cook, and there’s little he enjoys more than hosting dinner for friends and family. He spent time catering in France and ran a supper club in Uni too. When not trapsing around galleries, Hamish is usually reading, in a restaurant, or in a jazz bar.

It was during his undergraduate degree in Glasgow that Hamish developed a real passion for the arts. His academic background is in History of Art and Philosophy, and this dual approach to studying offered a unique perspective on both aesthetics and connoisseurship. These studies led him to explore a range of subjects from German Modernism to Impressionism, Communism, Anarchism, to philosophy of dreams, and aesthetics. Studying both subjects allowed Hamish to appreciate the complexities of representation, and the role art can play in understanding the physical, spiritual, and psychological worlds.

Hamish decided to study Art Business at the Sotheby’s Institute because he wanted to know more about the art world ecosystem and understand how these commercial relationships work. He was especially excited to experience London as a city and make interesting professional and personal contacts. As Features Co-Editor for MADE IN BED, Hamish hopes to explore the intersection between art and philosophy.
