About

Using composition techniques, Alejandro forms visual narratives around subjects that are often overlooked in the day-to-day. In this, lies the uniqueness of his photographs as they are filled with visual depth and dimension, regardless of how familiar a subject matter may appear to be. Often these works draw on Alejandro’s personal experience of new towns and cityscapes, and carry an air of unfamiliarity, of a foreign perspective. In Alejandro’s Desolate series in particular, he takes the viewer on a journey around Boston through works that represent his first-time visit to the city. Interested in photography techniques he explains - “photography is a medium that allows me to create memories and recount how each final photograph came to be”. While mainly embracing a ‘traditional’ approach to photography, his work has been recently transitioning from a fine art perspective into a multidisciplinary media, whereby photography is a foundation of an artwork and also incorporates other elements and practices. This new artistic approach will be presented in his upcoming series Tincture and Surface, where two-dimensional printed photographs instead take a three-dimensional form.
