MADE IN BED proudly introduces our newest Reviews Co-Editor, Lucía Alonso-Lasheras!
Born and raised in Madrid, Spain, Lucía Alonso-Lasheras grew up bilingual, immersing herself in both Spanish and English cultures. Her artistic journey began early, inspired by her grandmother, an accomplished artist, who nurtured her creative curiosity. This passion for art continued to evolve, driving Lucía to pursue an undergraduate degree in History of Art at Oxford Brookes University, where she excelled academically and received an award for her dissertation.
Lucía gained hands-on experience during and after her studies through internships at prominent institutions, including Modern Art Oxford, and private galleries such as Seager Gallery in London. These roles provided her with valuable insights into the art world, bridging the gap between public institutions and commercial spaces. In pursuing her MA in Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Lucía aims to deepen her understanding of the complex and multifaceted nature of the art world.
Engaging with exhibitions and gallery openings is a key aspect of Lucía’s involvement in the art world, reflecting her commitment to staying informed and inspired. Beyond these cultural engagements, her creativity extends into various forms of artistic expression, including painting, crafting, knitting, singing, and dancing. In recent years, her passion for creativity has found a new outlet in the kitchen, where she delights in experimenting with flavours and crafting innovative dishes to share with friends and family. Lucía is at her happiest in the countryside on horseback, or in the city trying out a restaurant for the first time.
