MADE IN BED proudly introduces our newest Reviews Co-Editor, Emilia Luders!
In the years leading up to studying at Sotheby’s, my first encounter with history of art came when I couldn’t decide what my third A Level should be. In a rush to choose I went out on a whim and chose History of Art. After finishing school, I went on to take part in the John Hall Course studying art history and photography for six weeks in Venice, before completing my undergrad in History of Art at Oxford Brookes. Shortly after completing my dissertation, I spent a month in the small Italian town of Amelia to complete a course in traditional painting methods and restoration issues with the Art Restoration and Conservation International Field School.
I have always had an interest in the creatives, and it was only a matter of time before my curiosity guided me towards the art historical world. I spent a large portion of my childhood being taken around antique shops by my parents, wandering around mazes of mahogany furniture and gilded trinkets. This undoubtedly inspired that impulse decision I made when I was sixteen, which has led me to studying Fine and Decorative Art and Design at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.
