Artist Statement
My paintings explore human experience using both a biographical and psychological framework. One aim of my work is to pay tribute to the moments in time that help shape our identity. I do this by combining my psychological expertise, with my own personal memories and reflections, often painting scenes of everyday life.
The colour palette, the lighting, the expressions and body language of my subjects - how they may or may not be interacting - all give clues into their inner experience and how they relate to others.
My paintings are strongly underpinned by psychology and emotion, but there are also important social themes running through them. As a British Indian who was brought up Christian, it’s important for me to show through my work that cultural identity is complex and unique.
