Artist Statement
My aim is to create sculptures that look like they have been created effortlessly. I love the rough and free touches of clay to capture the essence of character with a degree of abstraction.
Biography
Mooniq Priem discovered her passion for clay discovered during a sculpture course with her dear friend Hans Richters in 2007. Two years later she enrolled at an art academy in Belgium to master the techniques of sculpture. In 1995 she graduated as a graphic designer from the St. Joost Academy in Breda. In addition to being a designer and sculptor, Priem is also a filmmaker creating documentaries, among other things, about special encounters of her models who pose for a portrait. As a sculptor she portray her models in clay, and as a filmmaker she also captures the stories behind people.
