Artist Statement
Eleanor’s work explores the idea of wanting and desire that is fetishized through capitalism and consumer culture. There is a grotesqueness to these lavish and lush images, brash and gluttonous we absorb them without giving them a second thought. Eleanor plays with this idea and heightens their absurdity through collage and paint, creating strange scenes.
Eleanor has also started another series, this time thinking about fragmented memories. There is an allure and nostalgia to them and she is rediscovering those memories through recreating them using paint and collage.
