About
Realising the restrictive nature of working with oil on canvas and the impossibility to create depth of layers that she so desired, Manon turned towards her interest in textiles fostered while studying at Central Saint Martins. Working in silicone has permitted the artist not only to form beautiful compositions of sculptural fabric folds but also to challenge our perception of painting and sculpture altogether. Marrying both within one medium, Manon is able to create her work from scratch, control its every aspect.
Using bright and a large colour palette her work attracts the viewer’s gaze, interrupts the space and inspires reflection. As she puts it, - “colour has the power to halt one in their tracks, a power to not only interrupt space but the gaze and therefore the mind”. In the future, she hopes to see her work develop into larger compositions and to incorporate a greater combination of materials. Promising artist, Manon is due to exhibit at her first international solo show in Denmark at Annika Nuttall’s Gallery, then at a group show in St. Moritz with Studi0 and has numerous other upcoming projects across Europe.
Biography
Born in France Manon has been living in the UK since 2004 and residing in London since 2014. She completed a Foundation Course and a bachelor’s degree at Central Saint Martins. Wanting to further her interest in art, she completed her master’s degree in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts. Happy to be out of education in 2019 and become a full practicing artist she worked from her studio in South Bermondsey. However, as the lockdown was enforced, Manon found herself compacting her studio down to a few boxes and moving from London to countryside where she is currently continuing to work on her silicone compositions.
