Fun Fact: I always thought I was going to business school for undergrad, following my family’s expectations. However, I got a bit rebellious when it came time to choose. I followed my heart and chose design over business, and it basically surprised all my friends and family.

Born in Jiangsu, China, and raised in Toronto, Canada, Yujie is a jewellery designer currently based in London. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design from Glasgow School of Art, where she polished her skills as a designer and developed a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Arts in Luxury Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, bridging her creative background with the business knowledge required to thrive in the luxury and art industries.
Yujie’s passion for fashion, luxury, and the auction world has been enriched by her working experience with various companies, including the fashion group Kering and Lyon & Turnbull Auction House. These experiences have provided her with insights into the intersection of artistry and commerce, deepened her fascination with the impact of marketing and branding in the luxury and art markets, and motivated her decision to further explore the business side of the industry.
As a jewellery designer, Yujie’s work is deeply personal, often drawing inspiration from her life experiences and the natural world. She is passionate about integrating innovative technologies like 3D printing and laser welding into her practice, creating pieces that are deeply meaningful. Her designs frequently explore themes of art as a form of healing, reflecting her belief in the therapeutic power of creativity.
In her spare time, Yujie enjoys immersing herself in London’s vibrant art scene, exploring exhibitions, and connecting with local creative communities, with a special focus on current trends in luxury, experiential luxury and jewellery. She finds inspiration in observing how these elements evolve and intersect, continuously fuelling her passion for innovation and creativity within the luxury industry.
