The Power of Choice: Embracing Different Paths

SeeMe Gallery's dedication to providing diverse pathways empowers artists to navigate the art world on their terms, ensuring their voices and artistic aspirations are heard and celebrated. Whether an artist seeks recognition through prestigious art fairs, desires exposure in a gallery setting, or aims to engage with a vibrant creative community, SeeMe Gallery offers a metaphorical blank canvas that provides endless opportunities. By providing multiple entry options, actively promoting inclusivity and embracing diversity, SeeMe Gallery ensures that no artist is limited or excluded from participating in the creative industry. This commitment fosters a more vibrant and dynamic creative community where artists can thrive and find opportunities that align with their unique visions.

I feel exhilarated every time we launch a new exhibition open call – each has its own character, energy, and vibe. There is an element of the unknown that is exciting.

Every show is an opportunity to live our values while both highlighting the work of talented artists and partnering with like-minded entrepreneurs such as Eleonora Morales and her project Luxe by EM, Las Chingonas Mezcal, Parlor Social Club or Columbia Arts Access, that share the desire to make art and design accessible so that living amongst beauty, whether visual art, lifestyle or fashion, is possible for all.

The joyful desire amongst creatives to be out in the world is palpable, and we’re excited to build on that energy to create a fantastic exhibition experience.

Strength in Numbers: Building a Diverse and Thriving Art Market

One of SeeMe Gallery’s core strengths is its commitment to curated group exhibitions. By carefully curating and showcasing a diverse range of artists with mediums such as painting, digital art, embroidery, sculpture, and drawing, among others,  SeeMe provides a platform for under-recognized artists to reach a broader audience than other galleries. Further, through their inclusion in group shows, artists are able to connect with one another and use their works as a platform for conversation that increases their individual visibility. More importantly, it fosters a sense of community among creatives from different backgrounds. As a result, connections and collaborations can develop, leading to new artistic opportunities, and partnerships are able to flourish.

A great example of this expansive perspective is the friendships the team has forged with the community members, engaging in projects that go beyond the business and revolve around the exposure component. Working with artists such as the Colombian performer Valentina Quintero at SCOPE Art Fair, an event with commercial purposes, is a testament to the way in which SeeMe presents a project with a fresh perspective that aims to expand what is currently being presented in the traditional art market and its agents.

In addition to curated group exhibitions, SeeMe Gallery recognises the importance of participating in renowned art fairs such as Art Basel Miami and the Affordable Art Fair in New York City. Both present substantial opportunities within the international art markets to discover new talent at prices within reach for new collectors and are, therefore, the ideal place to exhibit new talents at the gallery. More importantly, this exposure to diverse audiences and markets contributes to the growth and sustainability of artists' careers.

Through participation, the strength of this thriving, nuanced art market is ensured as access to new talent for collectors is not limited and pushes against the stereotype that new talent is hard to come by in these events. Thus, this is beneficial not only to the developing CV of individual artists but simultaneously contributes to the art industry’s vibrancy as it is a hotspot for collaboration and mutual enrichment.

Creating Equal Opportunities: A Catalyst for Change

Following on from this, SeeMe Gallery's efforts to democratise the art world and create equal opportunities for artists are enhanced by providing membership alongside single-ticket entry options to the platform. Through this special membership option, SeeMe Gallery ensures that artists from all backgrounds and styles have an equal chance to shine.

SeeMe Gallery's approach to empowering emerging and mid-career artists showcases the importance of having diverse options in the creative industries, contributing to cultural and artistic enrichment and having significant economic importance is also emphasised by this membership model. By developing market growth and opportunity, they generate employment within the business side of the company, stimulate innovation through the implementation of technology resources for their artists, drive tourism and cultural exchange by featuring exhibitions around the globe, and contribute to the overall growth of economies supporting emerging markets in places like Latin America. Overall, the art industry can represent talent, imagination, and innovation better to create and deliver artistic and cultural experiences to audiences worldwide.

This is also achieved by providing members with a set of resources such as network contact lists, free educational material, and a comprehensive database of opportunities that go beyond open calls, such as press feature opportunities in art magazines, connecting them with journalists that have engaged with the project in the past, grants awarded to international artists, residencies information, feature opportunities and more.

To be honest, I was not accepted to the first call I applied for, or the next, or the next.  Yet I kept at it because I felt that for each call, my work and voice were getting stronger. Being a part of the community, seeing other artists’ work and having a connection to the themes of the calls aligned with what I was working toward.

In November, I  was honoured to be chosen as the member prize winner for the call, Evolve. What was most exciting about being chosen was being able to meet the team. SeeMe Gallery is not just an online platform but a community run by real people who care deeply about art and artists. I was seen as an artist and felt a comforting hand on my back guiding me along.

The fact that exhibits are held in beautiful venues, including SCOPE, Miami (where I was fortunate enough to be a part of), helps set SeeMe Gallery apart from other galleries. I am proud to be a member of the SeeMe Gallery community and look forward to continuing our relationship.

For the gallery part, of an artist’s success is attributed to opportunities. Hence, options are constrained by what is available, which is why making this information accessible to them is a vital part of the support system they provide. The gallery has a collective purpose of serving as a bridge between artists and their full potential, and it aims to support creators from the core of every profession. Thus, through their vision and commitment, SeeMe Gallery sets a precedent for the transformative power of diversity in the creative landscape.
